Great endings Hard beginnings

I would Like to warn people who are reading this that there are spoilers of the book American Gods in the text bellow.

During my reading of American Gods I had hypothesized in my journal that Shadow was Thor reincarnated. While my hypothesis about Shadow proven incorrect Wednesday, did turn out to be the father of Shadow. In fact it seems that he had spent many years looking for Shadow. I was really enjoyed this book I was very sad when I finished the final page and closed the back cover. But when one door closes another opens and I was excited to start reading another book by Neil Gaiman, an author I now love. However my high hopes and enthusiasm did not last long.
I found it almost impossible to immerse myself into the world presented in The Graveyard Book. While the writing was similar if more simplistic as it was written to target a younger audience, I found that I was still thinking about the world I had learned about in American Gods.  I think that this is one of the disadvantages of writing multiple books that are not a series or in some way related to each other. This is because it limits the ability of your reader to binge read the material which is becoming the more popular way to consume written texts especially fantasy or sci-fi.

Well with the last day of the binge reading behind me I now only have the video gaming binge left and I could not be more excited while I do have to play Lego Lord of the Rings :( it is still an excuse to sit and play video games guilt free.I cant wait!
