If you haven't read this book, I highly recommend you do! |
I absolutely love binge reading and Lev Grossman’s The Magicians series. Going into the reading binge I was very skeptical because I am not much of a reader and do not enjoy reading during my free time. However, I am completely infatuated with the first book so far and was shockingly the fastest reader in my group. It was like the second I read the first couple of pages, I was hooked in the fictional world, the fire alarm could of gone off in the library and I would not have flinched. My immediate obsession with this book I think has something to do with the diegesis. Although, Quentin’s journey into the fictional world was kind of short and random, once he is in the fictional world of Brakebill’s school of magic, it is impossible to stop reading and get out. Since I am not used to reading fictional novels, it was very easy to get into the fictional world it felt almost natural. This is like the strangest and newest thing for me; I am completely in awe with how much I am enjoying binge reading. Binge reading is actually a lot different for me personally then TV watching. I’m not sure if it has to do with the fact that I did not love the show I was binging on and love the book I’m binging on. But binge reading does not feel like a chore as much as the TV binge did, I’m actually excited to get my 4 hours in and time goes by so fast.
Going into the second day of binge reading I am excited. I really hope the book only gets better, and my enthusiasm does not run out. I’m hoping that this was not just a first day thing, and I will continue to love binge reading and not lose interest and get tired of it.
