Battlestar Galactica - A Grand Space Adventure

This week, I dove headfirst into a show I only really knew much about because of occasional mentions on the American version of The Office. For those of you who don't know, it is about 50,000 people who happened to be in space when a race of robots (who were created by humans in the first place) destroyed their planet and killed billions of people. Now, those people are attempting to find a place to live and rebuild humanity. It's a very unique apocalyptic scenario, and as it turns out, a very easy one to get lost in.

It did not take long for me to get attached to the characters and the setting. It even got to the point where I was accusing people in my real life of being Cylons. My boyfriend didn't get to stop hearing about this show for the three days I was watching it. To sum this up, it is an amazingly good show.

Despite this, and despite having an excellent group of people to watch it with, this binge was tougher than I imagined it would be. Binging is something I'm quite familiar with, having done this with many television shows before. This was different somehow. Waking up in the morning knowing I had to watch eight hours of television made the whole idea daunting. To be honest, it was not my favorite way of watching television, but I think it was just that knowing the binge watching was a requirement made it tough. Television has always been a way to relax, and having it be what I had to do all day took away that relaxing factor.

That's not to say that I didn't enjoy this first part of the whole experience. And I'm almost certainly watching the show again. Maybe even right now as I write this. (It's totally happening.)
