Peaky Blinders: My Bingeing Experience

Knowing that I had to watch something new that I had never seen before, like the Peaky Blinders, made me nervous going into The Binge. I was struck by how surprisingly attached to the characters and the narrative I became while watching the Peaky Blinders. I became immersed in the protagonist’s family, the Shelby family, and their reliance on the corruption around them to get what they want. Bingeing on this series consecutively episode after episode helped me take in and enjoy the series more. After bingeing on the entire two seasons, I was hooked on the action packed gang violence, plot twists, and the overall fast pace of the show. The binge sessions were I watched the Peaky Blinders went by extraordinarily fast due to my enjoyment of the show and the narrative arch that it reached. The shows violence startled me, but also enticed me to want to see more of the different gang’s signature moves. For example the Peaky Blinders’ razor blazed sowed into the lips of their hats that they take off at a moments notice to slash people in the face. There were also many plot twists such as when a character was killed off, and then person would reappear again in a later episode, having never died. Peaky Blinders was a fast paced television series that was meant to draw people in with these elements, and it certainly did the job.
